Italian in a Month App Reviews

If you can’t type the accents, you can’t proceed with the next step in this app and I have tried everything to type italian accents, but no luck. I changed the keyboard on my app to Italian, and the app doesn’t accept them. It also doesn’t allow me to copy and paste them in. I have written the creators of the app and have received no response. Don’t waste your money.

this is really easy to use and actuallly really fun. i can already feel myself learning. it starts to get addictive after a while. i had been wanting to learn italian for a while and i finaly can now. i might even think of taking up spanish after this.

I think the concept of this app is brilliant, and I can see how learning would happen quickly, however, the pictures are confusing, and while you are learning to connect the Italian word or phrase with the picture, you have no idea what it means. For example, there is an image of a woman sitting by a foundatin with a dog on her lap. You learn the phrase "e seduto" and connect with the photo - but I have no idea what the word means. Does it mean woman? Woman by a fountain? Woman with dog? Sexy woman? I eventually googled the phrase for a translation and it means sitting. Similarly, theres an image of a man standing in front of a car in a field. I dont know whether the phrase refers to the car or the man. Googled translation and it means stand. So, while Im learning to connect phrases to pictures, I cant do so accurately if I dont know what part of the picture the word refers to. If you want to say woman, why put an image of a woman drinking coffee? Just use a woman. Another big problem is that the program requires you to type the phrases you hear to encourage learning, however, my standard laptop keyboard doesnt have the appropriate accent marks for the Italian language, so it doesnt register and allow me to move on. Id give it a higher rating if they someone made the images a more obvious connection to the phrase or if there was an English word connected to the picture so you knew what you were learning. Also, fix the keyboard issue.

The accents dont work…have to copy & paste everytime….

This app is awesome! Definitely recommended for anyone needing to pick up Italian fast. The only problem Ive encountered thus far is some mixups on Lesson 8, but it is nothing that cannot be figured out quickly.

This app was working well until I upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion. Now as I open it, it simply displays a blank white box that says "Learn English in a Month." Searching for fixes or updates, but finding none. Huge waste of money!

I really like this ap. Im halfway through and have learned an incredible amount. It works by showing you pictures with corresponding written and spoken phrases, then voices repeat the phrase and show the picture and you have to write out the phrase. It sounds repetive but it doesnt feel so. This method forces you to figure out and internalize the grammar yourself, in a natural way instead of memorizing rules, etc. Its probably a similar method to Rosetta Stone, but a lot cheaper. Two things: 1. someone commented that the accents dont work, this isnt true. You just need to change the keyboard of your computer to Italian so you can easily access è à ì, etc. 2. The pictures are really funny, theyre clearly personal photos and not stock photos, and arent even set in Italy. It kind of makes the whole thing more amusing. Recommend!
